Yet, I must confess that I'm not familiar with this track. That being said, it sounds like nothing more than the sound that was covered with "Revolution 9" off the White Album. Personally, I'd rather wish that Macca would unearth the master tape of the alleged 27 minute version of "Helter Skelter."Richnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8196948321512449139.post-7158154320144280102008-10-24T05:45:53.000-06:002008-10-24T05:45:53.000-06:00Don't give short shrift to the Dio albums too....Don't give short shrift to the Dio albums too. Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are solid throughout. And of course I LOVE Dehumanizer...although it seems to get forgotten for some reason. The keys give Sabbath songs in extra touch of otherworldly menace, even on "love" songs like Sabra Cadabra.

Speaking of Tony Martin, we used to have "Born Again" on vinyl when it first came out. I haven't heard anything from it in 20 years, but if I recall correctly, it was pretty solid. The riff on the song "Zero the Hero" (I think that's what its called) was particularly excellent.

Sabbath's first album (Black Sabbath) is a must own. The title track is incredibly eerie and fantastic -- it can be argued that metal as we know it was born with this song. I can only imagine what it must have been like hearing it for the first time when it first dropped in '69. The Wizard is bluesy hard rock at its finest, plus it has N.I.B. and Wicked World, songs that feature two of Iommi's signature riffs.Richnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8196948321512449139.post-20938228927254117812008-10-24T07:55:36.000-06:002008-10-24T07:55:36.000-06:00Ha! They have such a messed up legacy. Most noted for one of their weakest songs and considered by the Chart following crowd as a one hit wonder. And yet, III Sides is a fantastic album. Waiting for the Punchline worked sort of, but was their weakest and not the one to go out on. Glad to know that failing with Perry can do what VH1 could not.Davenoreply@blogger.com
